Traditional power transmission isn’t enough safe and reliable due to the bareness of wire and the impact of external environment. Accidents are easier to occur especially in some inflammable and explosive dangerous situations. As the safety and reliability demands of power supplying increase, traditional transmission method is already unable to meet the needs. Therefore, new technology of electric power transmission is significant.First, this paper summarizes the basic characteristics of the inductively coupled power transfer system. The transmission system consists of the high frequency inverter, rectifier and contactless transformer. According to the basic structure, the main factors that influence efficiency of this system are analyzed.Second, the contactless transformer is analyzed by deducing the equivalent model. The transformer primary side and secondary side compensation are researched and the basic way of compensation and compensation topology are introduced. Then, this paper derives the formula for the value compensation parameters and analyses the characteristics of the system circuit in different compensation mode.At last, this paper builds the system simulation model using MATLAB/Simulink software. Besides, reasonable compensation capacitance is selected according to the value formula. The system transmission power will be changed when the transformer has different compensation structure. With the secondary compensation, the system transmission power will be improved. When the transformer has primary compensation, the voltage and current of the primary side phase angle is zero and the inverter works in soft switch state. At the same time, the loss of the switch decreases and the system transmission efficiency improves. The contactless transformer experiment is made by choosing the high frequency inverter circuit and the rectifier circuit. The results of simulation and experiment both show that the system transmission efficiency will be improved when the transformer has primary compensation and secondary compensation.
