To satisfy the rapid development of science and technology and economy in our country, the construction of short-pylon cable-stayed bridge has become modern requirements.With the increasing of span of short-pylon cable-stayed bridge, design and construction difficulty is more bigger. At the same time, the cost of design and construction is becoming more and more higher. Therefore, how to ensure the lower cost on the basis of safety and reliability has become the research direction of the general scholars. This paper, with the help of Changshan bridge, uses the finite element software ANSYS to carry on optimization design and analysis.Firstly, this paper summarizes the development history of cable-stayed bridge and many research results of large scholars. Meanwhile, it puts forward the direction of research and the challenges faced by modern cable-stayed bridge.Secondly, this paper introduces some relative concepts, research methods and design steps of the optimization design. Moreover, it also introduces some basic theory and mathematical models of structure optimization design.Thirdly, in this paper, optimization is divided into three parts. The first part is the optimization of pier. It select single pier thickness as the design variable. The constraint conditions is the pier strength and stability. The objective function is the pier cross-section area.Through the zero order and first order optimization, it gets the optimization result and is compared with the actual result. The second part is the optimization of the cable.It select the initial strain of the cables as the design variable. The objective function is the cross displacement. The bridge reduces the cable force through the optimization design.The third part is the multi-objective optimization.Through the joint optimization of the first two parts, it gets the optimal calculation results of multi-objective optimization.Finally, through summarizing the results of calculation and analysis of each chapter,it puts forward some constructive suggestions and prospects, which provide the certain reference value for the design of the cable-stayed bridge construction.
