The reinforced concrete shear wall is very important structural parts of the high-rise building. They play a very important role in resisting the lateral force. Study on seismic performance of reinforced concrete shear wall is a hot field now. Multi-layer shell element is an effective tool for simulating of shear wall. OpenSees is an open-source FE software program. It has powerful finite element analysis function, many efficient algorithms and open application architecture. Latest research results can be integrated into this open system continuously. Reinforced concrete shear wall is an important component in structure. Multi-layer shell element is an effective tool to simulate reinforced concrete shear wall. In this work, a method is proposed to extract stress data from the multi-layer shell element shear wall model in OpenSees which cannot output stress data.Firstly, a stress interface code is written. Determine the location of stress information this paper want according to the characteristic of OpenSees program and program structure of the multi-layer shell element model. Write interface code which used to output stress information and put the code into the location determined previously. Recompile all the code of OpenSees to get a new OpenSees program which includes the function of outputting stress information of shear wall.Secondly, two pieces of reinforced shear walls is simulated using the multi-layer shell element of the new OpenSees program. The stress information is obtained through filtering the data output using MATLAB program written according to the character of the data output, the number of elements of the wall and layers of very element. This verified the method the paper proposed. At the same time, the multi-layer shell element in OpenSees is verified according to the comparison of the hysteresis loop and force-displacement curves under monotonic loading between simulation and test. Finally, the shear walls which was simulated using OpenSees previously is simulated using two methods of ABAQUS. ABAQUS is a large finite-element numerical simulation software. The multi-layer shell element and solid elements is used to simulate the shear walls in this section. Simulation results of stress, hysteresis loop and force-displacement curves under monotonic loading between ABAQUS, OpenSees and the tests are compared and analyzed. Similarities and differences between ABAQUS and OpenSees is explored. The study shows that the stresses can be output through adding interface code, on the one hand, OpenSees simulates mechanical behavior of concrete in shear walls very well, but simulates local stress badly; On the other hand, ABAQUS simulates local stress of concrete in shear walls very well, but simulates mechanical behavior badly;...
