With the wide application of high-tech and the rapid development of economy,Petrochemical and other large enterprises faced some problems and urgently needed to solve.One of the main problems that the petrochemical and other large enterprises facing is load power supply continuity. In order to solve this problem, the method that uses generally at present is that system to the standby auto power switch device(BSAW) or fast cutting device for switching power supply. But with the increase of further improving the equipment precision degree and load capacity of the enterprise, since the installation of equipment and fast cutting device has been unable to meet the requirements of some domestic large enterprises, so these enterprises began to seek a better compensation effect, the action faster voltage compensation device, namely static var compensator STATCOM. This paper on the basis of the actual line, Tianjin Petrochemical Power transformer, load and other parameters,comprehensive analysis of power system simulation software PSASP to build the simulation model of the whole Tianjin Petrochemical grid system, and selected three common system fault according to the running condition of the enterprise network, each of them were transient simulation analysis, using a variety of methods determine installation location and installation capacity of STATCOM; then analyzes the type and parameters of the protection of petrochemical power important, transient simulation analysis to the front of the detailed check,check the handover process produce impact to the effects of relay protection; finally, aiming at the possible problems in the transient process, and puts forward some measures and suggestions, so as to realization of reduced impact current, to prevent the protection action objective.Enterprise voltage dip is another major problem faced in petrochemical and other large enterprises, continue to occur in power grid enterprise in shaking phenomena often lead to different influence to the enterprise. In order to solve the problem of petrochemical enterprises shake, aiming at the limitation of current control measures, this paper puts forward the basic thought of anti shake using STATCOM, and according to the characteristics of electric shake Tianjin Petrochemical transformer station system of electric shaking position are transient simulation analysis, comprehensive consideration of various methods, determine the STATCOM optimal installation location and the optimal installed capacity, and according to the simulation results obtained earlier on Petrochemical step-down substation relay protection is currently re check, by check of the STATCOM device can effectively deal with the enterprise of power grid and power shaking, avoid the failure of the expansion, to ensure the stable operation of the system.
