Reactive power compensation is an important research topic in the power system. with the increasing scale of power system at present, all kinds of electric equipments work required by the reactive power is also increasing, and the distribution of reactive power in power grid is becoming more and more complex, unreasonable, it has a big impact to the planning and operation of the power system. But the traditional reactive power compensation device technology is relatively backward, and has been unable to meet the requirements of power system compensation, therefore, according to the actual condition of reactive power compensation, this paper in-depth study on reactive power compensation, it will design a set of intelligent SVG reactive power compensation device.At first, this paper expounds the significance of reactive power compensation and the current power system reactive power solutions. Static reactive power Generator is analyzed at the basic principle of the Static Var Generator and the function model. On the basis of these, the mathematical model is established and the key research is SVG reactive compensation control strategy. Aiming at 380 V voltage grade, it puts forward the rated capacity 100 kvar reactive power compensation device’s design scheme, and has carried on the device from the two aspects of hardware and software development, making it can realize from the perceptual reactive 100 kvar to capacitive reactive power 100 kvar two-way continuous smooth adjustment.In terms of hardware design, this research uses the TI company’s high-performance low-power 32-bit fixed point DSP(Digital Signal Processor) chip TMS320F2812 as the main controller, the hardware system is mainly composed of main circuit, DSP controller, detection circuit, drive circuit and so on, and all components in the circuit has completed parameter calculation and selection. Finally it completed the whole hardware circuit design and debugging.In the aspect of software design, using the CCS3.3 software development platform based on C language programming to complete the DSP software program design of reactive power compensation, including the network parameters for data acquisition, signal processing, and reactive power calculation program and the generation of SPWM wave.The innovation point of this design is the frequency tracking technology which is applied to the SVG device.Finally every function module of the whole SVG device has completed online debugging and load experiment. Through analyzing the experimental results, it can realize automatic sampling calculation and reactive power automatic compensation, fault protection, data storage, and other functions, to verify the rationality of the entire unit.
