The quality of voltage that is good or bad has a very important role in promoting the development of industry and improving people's lives, while the reactive power compensation is one of the most importatnt methods adopted to maintain the stability of the power system.With the continuous improvement of the power electronic semiconductor devices in the direction of all types of control, high capacity, integration and high frequency, the traditional reactive power compensation devices are replaced faster and faster by the modern static var compensation device.Static var generator(SVG)with its fast response, more wide operating range becomes more and more active in the field of the converter technology and to be a very significant compensation device in the flexible AC transmission systems(FACTS).This paper proposes a research program about the static reactive power generator based on DSP. First of all,summarizing the process of the development and the present situation of the research on reactive power compensation. Secondly, in-depth analysis of the working principle of SVG and the method of making model, and useing switching function to establish its steady-state and dynamic mathematical model teady-state model to make basic preparations for the next simulation and SVG control.Making comparisons of the commonly used methods of reactive current detection, and focusing on the instantaneous reactive power theory, then briefly discusses the advantages and disadvantages of current control methods about both of the direct control and indirect control, chooseing a single variable based on indirect control of the inverse system PI control strategy as this paper control method, and by use of the MATLAB software to analyze the correctness and feasibility of the method.In this paper, select the TMS320F2810 DSP chip as the control center, which has a higher control accuracy and faster computational speed, by learning of the principle of its hardware and peripheral modules, mastering its use. In this basis, design the control circuuit of hardware and control system of software of the SVG-based DSP.
