This paper presents a new interior point nonlinear programming algorithmfor optimal power flow problems (OPF ) based on the perturbed KKT conditionsof the primal problem with a novel data structure. The content of the researchincludes the commonly optimal power flow problems, thermal optimal powerflow problems and hydro-thermal optimal power flow problems in powersystem. Extensive numerical simulations on test system that range in size from4 to 118 buses have obtained satisfactory results. The computational burden ofthe maximum test system is equal to that of 2953 bus OPF problem. Thesimulation results have shown the proposed method has speediness androbustness.Main properties of the propose algorithm are:1. The propose algorithm is polynomial-time,2. By means of the reduced correction equation,the propose algorithm canefficiently handle a huge number of functional inequality constraints forlarge scale optimization problems in power system;3. The novel data structure is very efficient to reduce the number of fill-ins.
