Huge economic losses from the earthquake disaster prompted people to rethink carrying capacity based seismic design method. In 1995, the American scholar first proposed performance-based seismic design ideas, attracted widespread attention of scholars from various countries. Pushover analysis method as a static pushover analysis method is a simplified method of seismic nonlinear structural analysis, Under certain conditions can be more accurately and easily assess the seismic performance of the structure and design of building structures has been widely applied. Traditional Pushover analysis is a commonly used single way of loading process in order to achieve structural damage to load the target step by step. But in the actual structure suffered earthquake is the result of the reciprocating vibration, apparently single loading mode can’t be true and accurate force characteristics under seismic response of structures and components, and different levels of lateral force load mode of analysis results are quite different.Considered the disadvantage of traditional pushover analysis uniaxial loading and horizontal lateral force distribution pattern. In this paper, pattern of horizontal lateral force distribution propose reciprocating pushover analysis method based on the course of deformation energy dissipation, which get good results in the designs of structural performance. Through description on the course of structural characteristics of the energy and establish a simplified model of energy dissipation course in structural deformation. Get on the control parameters of pushover analysis which consider the impact of energy-consuming process of structural damage in order to achieve the maximum deformation and cumulative energy consumption. Under reciprocating lateral force load mode pushover analysis include uniform distribution, inverted triangular distribution, parabolic distribution and adaptive distribution. Analysis shows, method of reciprocating pushover analysis can accurate estimate the hinge mode, maximum drift cumulative hysteretic energy and hysteretic energy distribution under seismic action. Pushover analysis of the feasibility of reciprocating lateral forces under different loading mode and pushover analysis provides reference selection mode for the lateral force load. By understanding the failure mechanism of structural members, relationships between local and overall damage, which contribute for further designed in the new structure and provide targeted guidance for reinforcement of the damaged structure.
