With the growth of the service time, the stay cables will be affected by corrosion degradation, vibration fatigue and other adverse factors inevitably in using, resulting in cable damage. Because of the corrosion damage process of the stay cables is slow and subtle, so the research focus in this article is cable corrosion damage. Cable corrosion causes the change of cable tension and main girder deflection, leads to serious effects on the bearing capacity of cable-stayed bridge, and directly affects the normal operation of cable-stayed bridge, so the research about the influence of cable damage on the change of cable tension and main girder deflection has great practical significance and research value.This thesis chooses the 180 m+320 m+180 m short tower cable-stayed bridge of Wuhu Yangtze River Bridge as the research object, on the basis of the design drawings, utilizing the ANSYS software to establish it’s finite element model, and modify the cable tension and the main girder alignment, so that the cable tension and the alignment is consistent with the the real bridge data. The modified model is the baseline finite element model of this bridge.In addition, using the ANSYS software to establish the benchmark model of a cable-stayed bridge with single cable plane and single tower, respectively using area reduction, elastic modulus reduction, reverse loading, physical simulation four method to simulate the cable with broken wires, then analyzing the changes of cable tension and main girder deflection after cable corrosion. Through the above work get the best characterization forms of cable corrosion. Then using the physical simulation method to simulate the cable corrosion with broken wires, and analyzing the change regulation of cable tension and main girder deflection with different cables corrosion under varying degrees.Then the obtained best characterization method will be applied to the benchmark model of Wuhu Yangtze River Bridge, researching the change regulation of cable tension and main girder deflection with different cables corrosion under varyingdegrees, and analyzing the change regulation of cable tension and main girder deflection under different loads. Compare the damage effect and the load effect, and analysis the difference between the two cases.Finally, analyzing the change regulation of cable tension and main girder deflection under different loads after the cable damaged, then researching the amplification of load effects on damage effects, in order to identify the cable damage more accurately.
