Light weight of automobile is a research focus in recent years. The traditional forming methods of automobile panels can be divided into separate and integral forming processes. The former is characterized by more molds and complex process. The latter is featured by simple process and increased the weight of the automobile. Selection of tailor welded blanks may avoid the above disadvantages. It can achieve the goal of light weight. Two or more blanks with different thickness and mechanical properties are welded to obtain the desirable tailor welded blanks. But the forming is difficult and for the tailor welded blanks. Numerous studies show that the welding seam has a great influence on the formability of the tailor welded blank. In this paper, addendum, blank holder force, location of the welding seam and drawing bead have been investigated and analyzed to control the movement of the welding seam and avoid the forming defects in order to get the qualified deep drawing part.In this paper, addendums modeling of the panel have been added firstly, and then simulation analysis has been performed to get the appropriate process parameters and guide the actual production.Numerical simulation analysis of the deep drawing process of the automobile panel has been performed using AUTOFORM software. During the process of making addendums of the panel model, stamping direction without negative angle has been chosen firstly, and then the simple inner and complex outer addendums have been made. The addendums can be generated by selection of the characteristic section line with the biggest drawing resistance.After making the addendum, the process parameters of the deep drawing have been simulated using the AUTOFORM software. One-step approach has been used to calculate the blank size firstly. The deep drawing process of DC04 sheet blank with thickness of 0.8mm has been simulated and analyzed to obtain the proper blank holder force, which is the basis of preparation for the tailor welded blanks. The tailor welded blank of DC04/B280 vk with thickness of 0.8/1.2mm has been simulated and analyzed from the two aspect of the position the welding seam and the blank holder force. When the welding seam is in the center and just the location of severe deformation, the formability is unsatisfactory. When the movement of welding seam and blank holder force reach 20 mm and 450 KN, respectively, the simulation results indicate that the forming is satisfactory. The real draw bead parameters can be obtained according to the virtual draw bead used in the simulation. The real draw bead has been designed using UG software and then simulated again to get the results which are closer to the actual situation.The deep drawing forming molds of the automobile have been modeled three dimensionally by UG and then machined. The stamping experiments have been carried out to verify the parameter results of the simulation. The consistence of the ideal experiment results and the simulation result verifies the correct of simulation result. After completion of the deep drawing process, punching, side punching, trimming, flanging and reshaping have been performed to obtain the final part.
