Geological disaster takes place frequently in the loess plateau of China because of the special properties of loess and topography and hydrological conditions, loess slope failure as one of them seriously threats to people’s life and property safety. There are a large number of hidden holes of various forms in loess, when hidden holes develop in loess slope, it will affect the stability of slopes, which make stability of slope tend to be less. Those loess slope that have lots of hidden holes more possibly lost their stability under the influence of earthquake and other factors. The hidden holes can affect slope stability, which makes many loess collapse and medium-small landslides has a close relationship with loess hidden holes. The phenomenon that hidden holes of different sizes and at different positions will ha ve effect on stability of loess slope by various degrees showing different sliding characteristics is very common n loess plateau area where loess hidden holes widely distributes. So it is significant to study loess slope stability under hidden holes for treatment and prevention of loess slope.Based on the form of loess slope and hidden holes, generalized models for loess slope developing hidden holes have been established by FLAC3 D to study the stabilities of loess slope with hidden holes under static and dynamic. The primary contents are as follows:(1) On the basis of reading a large number of papers, the distribution regularities of area and topographical features and depth of loess hidden holes are further summarized.(2) According to the cases of hidden holes in slope maybe distributing, a lots of loess slope models which take into account the hidden holes with different size, different slope distance and different location factors are established by using the FLAC3 D to make static calculation with strength reduction method, to analyze the laws of slope stability safety factor, the distributions of plastic zone and displacement under different cases. In static conditions, slope stability safety factor decreases with hidden holes dropping from top to bottom. A hidden hole through sliding surface have minimum biggest influence on safety factor of slope.(3) The earthquake is taken into account on the basis of static numerical simulation models. Earthquake load uses harmonic load. The completely dynamic method is used to analyze the laws of slope stability safety factor, the distributions of plastic zone and displacement under different cases. Plastic zone becomes larger and extends to the body of slope with hidden holes diameter increasing under earthquake load.(4)The earthquake loads is imposed on the models for static analysis to analyze the dynamic responses of hidden holes in loess slope which include speed, acceleration and displacement response. It can be conclused that the bigger radium of hidden holes in the bottom of slope, the stronger dynamic response of ceiling.
