In this paper, for the existing problem of mechanical soft starting transmission such as complex structure and high cost, the new type mechanical soft starting torque transmission based on magnetorheological clutch was proposed on the basis of the previous study. This technical scheme can make motor start directly without separated from the load.This paper was divided into six chapters, and the main contents were as followed:First, a mechanical soft starting transmission design plan based on magnetorheology was established, by a comparative study on mechanical soft starting method in the load condition at home and abroad in recent years. Through the research of the established mechanical soft starting transmission, the kinetics model of the transmission system, the moment calculating model of magneto rheological fluid brake and the electromechanical system kinetics model of mechanical soft starting torque transmission were constructed.Second, the key structures of mechanical soft starting torque transmission such as the planetary gears of mechanical soft starting torque transmission and the magneto rheological fluid brake were designed. The working conditions of the planetary gears such as transmission ratio condition, adjacent condition, concentric condition and assembly condition were analyzed. The dimensions of the planetary gears were designed and checked. And a coil embedded magneto rheological fluid brake with multiple disks was designed.Third, the planet carrier was simulated by using finite element analysis software. With the lightest quality of the planet carrier as the optimization target, the quality of the planet carrier was decreased about 17% by using the multi-objective optimization design method in Design Explorer. The modal simulation of the gear shaft was analyzed by using ANSYS Workbench. And the results show that no resonance will appear on the gear shaft.And the simulation model of the magneto rheological fluid brake was established based on ANSYS. Its distribution diagrams of magnetic induction line and magnetic induction intensity were achieved. The simulation results show that it can meet the design requirements very well. The dynamics simulation of planetary gear transmission system was analyzed by using the multi-body dynamics simulation software Adams on the basis of theoretical study. The first eleven system inherent frequencies and the frequency-response curve were acquired. The result shows that this scheme is feasible and provides theoretical basis for practical applications.
