In the new period, There are some new requirements for the engineering design of the auxiliary power system for large power plant. For example, it is need to know the variety of the main parameters for reactor cooling pump during several transient process of the system, it is need to make quantitative analysis and comparation about the power supply reliability of the auxiliary power system. The practical calculation method of the DL standard could not meet these new requirements, it is need to use the professional software to meet them. This paper analysis the main problems about using the professional software to complete the scheme design of the auxiliary power system for large power plant, research the simulation and analysis methods of auxiliary power system for nuclear power unit.The first part of this paper performs analysis on the different methods in calculation of short-circuit adopted by foreign electrical system, ie., IEC or IEEE method, and the domestic system, ie., DL/T 5153 method. This paper also provides a method to eliminate the difference based on the analysis, so as to achieve the objective of generating the same calculation output from the foreign software with the DL/T 5153 method and thus meet the demand of domestic engineering project.This paper meanwhile touches on the issue relating to the operational parameters used in the transient stability of auxiliary power system, which the owners usually require the research & design institute to provide in an engineering project. The paper analyzes the basic theory on dynamic motor acceleration, and provides the research outcomes on how to build up the dynamic analytical model in the software. The paper illustrates the practical examples to study the regularity of the auxiliary motor operation.Furthermore, this paper covers the topic on the reliability assessment analysis of auxiliary power system which is required in the nuclear power unit. Based on the analysis on FMEA which is applicable to the power distribution system, the paper illustrates the practical examples to provide both the solution and regularity for the reliability assessment analysis by using the professional software.In the last part, this paper applies the above research outcomes into a real engineering project and thus proves the research outcomes are capable of solving the three problems and remarkably improve the design of the auxiliary power system by using the professional software.
