Vehicle steering system is used to change the vehicle ground track, and keeps the operation stability and the driving stability. Steering system needs to meet good steering portability and operating stability. Different structure of the steering system has different influence on vehicle performance. The electric hydraulic power steering system is the most widely used style at present. This paper introduced a new electric hydraulic power active steering system combined with traditional electric hydraulic power steering system, the main work is as follows:Analyzed the structure and working principle of new type steering system and established the work plan of steering system, studied and analyzed several important parts structural characteristics and working principle, then, preliminarily calculated diverter, pump and some other critical components in vehicle according to related papers; analyzed several typical power characteristic curves, drew a three-dimensional parabolic dynamical characteristic curve with vehicle speed, Steering wheel angular velocity and Steering torque using data-fitting method of Matlab and analyzed its discipline; In order to clearly understand the inner mechanical relations, established detailed mathematic models for steering wheel, including diverter and tire et.al. These works also set the theoretical foundation for the follow-up system modeling analyzing and simulation. Then, the whole steering system simulation model was built and conducting all kinds of simulation analysis to verify the basic steering functions including flow and pressure dynamic characteristics study. In addition, the influence toward steering system dynamic characteristic by steering torsion bar stiffness, diverter effective piston area and motor speed were either analyzed.The simulation results show that the new steering system is able to realize the basic functions of vehicle steering and the mathematic models established in this paper are correct, settling a foundation for further research and development of the new steering system design.
