In modern warfare,the electronic warfare plays a very important role. According to the needs of modern warfare, electronic warfare should have the ability of advance warning, remote sensing, positioning, and good concealment. The traditional electronic surveillance equipment is restricted due to the curvature of the Earth,unable to break through the restrictions on the horizon,leading to a limited reconnaissance distance.And the troposcatter reconnaissance receiving technology by using transmission characteristics of electromagnetic waves in the troposphere to increase the reconnaissance distance greatly,can achieve over-the-horizon detection,while it’s passive detection,which can meet the demand of modern electronic warfare.Firstly this paper introduces the basic principle of the troposcatter reconnaissance receiving technology,and establishes the basic model of the dielectric properties of the troposphere,and studies the effects of refraction and scattering of electromagnetic wave propagation in the troposphere and analyses the basic model and the principles of the propagation of tropospheric refraction.And then ducting is introduced.The mechanism of troposcatter propagation is studied,while tropospheric scatter propagation characteristics are analysed.At the same time, the basic model tropospheric scatter propagation is established. And this paperpoints out the main features of tropospheric scatter propagation is in the dissemination process a lot of loss will occur.And then, the principles and the factors affecting performance of the current method of direction finding are studied.Based on the performance of different methods of direction-finding and the features of the model of troposcatter reconnaissance receiving,the paper points out troposcatter direction-finding method that should be used.And then the model of troposcatter location is established.The solver fomula and the positioning accuracy expression are deduced,at the same time, the main factors affecting the positioning performance are analysed,and a simulation is conducted,when the error caused by refraction is corrected.At last the paper analyses the design of reconnaissance receiver,and points out digital channelized receiver should be used and the sensitivity of receiver should be higher.
