As the railway wheel load and the frequency of use increased year by year, the railway wearing is seriously increasing, meanwhile, with the railway is increasing in recent years, the speed of the locomotives lead to the rail wear is increasing. Therefore, the rail of the rail head wear detection is very important,which is one of the railway secter being take seriously in long term, it is related to the life safety of the passengers.The detectionmethod of the rail head have wear-contact detection and non-contact detection. The contact detection of mechanical vernier caliper testing use sensors to detect and electrical integration testing. Non-contact measurement make use of opitical detection,such as CCD camera-based digital image processing methods.Image processing are accuracy but very expensive,and vulnerable to the environmental impact,such as light,the oil spot. The image processing are more than contact mechanical measurement about the measurement accuracy, but the price is affordable,without light, the oil spot. Based on the above in this article to sdudy the contact mechanical rail head cross-section measurements, but the mechanical measurement of the domestic rail head side wear as a locating datum can not be used for regeneration of rail and switch rail, the measuring device side wear.It on the basis of rail low as designed on the basis of the rail cross-section profile measurement device.This paper firstly introduce the rail cross-section profile measurement development as well as domestic and international development and their advantages and disadvantages, and then introduce the subject routes,including the design of amechanical measuring mechanism and to rail at the end of the positioning device by Adam module acquisitiondata to establish the coordinates of the relationship of the rail section and the level of wear in the PC with VC6.0. The rail section with the system for measuring and analyzing the results of the system to further optimize the views.
