Aircraft icing is a common weather phenomena affecting flight safety, so it ismeaningful to ensure flight operation safely and economically to understand the icingcharacteristics in the airport area. This paper summarized the main domestic and abroadaircraft icing research directions and its outcomes, counted the icing occurencefrequency and icing intensity frequency of six airports in East of China usingNCEP/NCAR reanalysis data, analyzed the characristics of icing frequency in height,season and period, caculated the icing climate tendency and climate tendencycoefficient of each airport, then studied the periodical characteristics of icing timeseriesbased on Morlet wavelet, finally this paper designed a aeronautical meteorologicalinformation data mining system based GIS.The results showed:the easy icing height of Xiamen Airport and Qingdao Airportis600hpa, the easy icing height of rest airports is500hpa; the highest frequency seasonof these airports is winter, the least frequency season is summer; the icing occurencefrequency in00UTC,06UTC,12UTC,18UTC is well-distributed; the instense icingmostly occurs at500hpa and600hpa with a large annual fluctuations, the medium andweak icing frequency is stable, showing the same height distribution with the icingoccurence frequency.The icing occurence frequency and weak icing frequency of six airports in East ofChina shows significant linear decreasing trend, but the intense and medium icingoccurence have no such significant linear trend.Airports icing frequency sequence wavelet analysis shows that the shock periodvaries for each airport. There are6a shock periods in Pudong Airport bofore2001, thereare4a shock periods between1998and2006in Hangzhou Airport, the shock period ofNanjing Airport is10a, Xiamen Airport is12a with6a shockperiods among whole timesequence, Qingdao Airport has9a shock periods before2008, there are6a shock periodsexisted in Nanchang Airport.
