In accordance to the drawback of amphibious vehicle’s low speed in water, a new kind offolding mechanism based on double wishbone suspension is proposed in order to reduce thevehicle resistance in water. The spatial arrangement, wheel lifted status, movement interference and the safety onthe road are considered in the design of wheel lifted mechanism, and it is based ondouble-wishbone independent suspension with hydraulic control mechanism. Throughanalyzing the kinematic characteristics of the wheel lifted mechanism, a specific3D model isalso built and simulated. The initial coordinates of the mechanism’s key points are achieved. The folding double wishbone suspension of amphibious vehicle is simulated simply byparameterized. The optimization model of system is established under objective function, design variables and constraints. The system of double wishbone suspension is optimized byusing the method of Generalized Reduced Gradient (GRG). The final coordinates of themechanism’ key points are obtained after optimization. The motion of parallel wheel travel issimulated. The feasibility of the wheel lifted mechanism is proved by the curve of wheelalignment.Based on the working conditions of the wheel lifted mechanism, the hydraulic circuitwhich provides with the functions of pressure regulated, locked and pack is designed toensure the accuracy of wheel lifted and the driving safety on the road. The appropriatehydraulic cylinders, hydraulic components and auxiliary components are chosen due to thehydraulic system load and the maximum flow rate. Finally, according to the characteristics ofthe wheel lifted and parameters, the whole vehicle model is built. Based on national vehicletest standards, controllability and stability virtual simulation step steer test, ramp steer testand other tests are done. The analysis results illustrate that the vehicle’s controllability and stability is feasible.
