| The application of mechanical seal is necessary for oil refining companies. It has a directinfluence on the production efficiency. And accidents triggered by losing efficacy accounts foraround73%of the total accidents. Mechanical seal will provide better operation results, longerservice life, and bring more profits for the corporation when compared to traditional packingseal. Thus, mechanical seal is gradually replacing packing seal. In order to achieve betterapplication to various kinds of fluid media, it can be changed that lubrication conditionbetween the stationary ring and the rotating ring by design diffident groove profile to improvethe sealing performance. Then the sealing component will extend its life.Under the condition that mechanical operates normally, there is a very thin liquid film, onthe micro-scale, between the end surface of the stationary ring and the rotating ring because ofpressure. The amount of leakage is decided by the flow condition of the liquid film. Throughcontrasting state of the flow field which in three groups of mechanical seals with differentshapes. Under the same parameters, we can analyze the influence on seal performance bygroove profile. This paper aims to study liquid film between the end surface of the stationaryring and the rotating ring. Firstly, we can simulate pressure field, velocity field, and sealperformance for different situations. Secondly, we can use professional equipments to measurethe pressure distribution of liquid medium film, the amount of leakage and other sealparameters in practice. Then the simulation data will be analyzed and compared with theexperimental data to examine the accuracy of simulation value. And there is a followinganalysis of the reasons that they have differences. In the end, we will draw a conclusion afterwe compare liquid film of flow field and seal performance of different groove profile.After a series of experimental measurements and simulations, it is proved that operatingpressure and rotational speed of axle have an obvious effect on the state of motion of liquidmedium film and the leakage amount of components. Also, the groove profile on rotating ringsurface will influence the seal performance in the whole seal system. |
