Reservoir sedimentation, is an significant branch of sediment research. Capacity of the reservoir sedimentation will cause the decline of the reservoir itself functionality, security and comprehensive benefits, severely cases may even lead to engineering reconstruction or scrapped. Therefore, how to conduct reservoir sedimentation treatment, maintain and restore the corresponding functions of reservoir in service, has become one of the hot issues concern for workers of water conservancy at present.Kezier reservoir which lies to xinjiang province on sediment-laden rivers in a mountainous area is a typical and large control system of the reservoir, and it is a plain reservoir with the large bottom area. First, this article through the study of water and sediment characteristics of kezier reservoir, the motion law of sediment deposition, the status quo of deposition and application scope of reservoir sedimentation reduction and sand, analysis the reason of the reservoir sedimentation and its trends. Then, through the hydraulic model test for the section tributary black transcribing, study black transcribing storage period of sediment deposition, put forward a desilting way in which comibing river diversion dike and sediment delivery channels, flowing most of the sediment on the branch river out of the reservoir through methods such as retrogressive erosion or density current, in order to ease the sediment deposition problem of kezier reservoir. Moreover, through retrogressive erosion scour profile graphics and the corresponding relations, the reservoir profile equation of retrogressive erosion process was established; joining sediment balance equation, it is concluded that the quantity and length of retrogressive erosion formulas for calculating the on the plain reservoir with large bottom area on sediment-laden river in a mountainous area, and selects the kizier reservoir related have been carried out to verify the measured data. Finally, making a summary of the relevant research results, and the outlook for reservoir sediment delivery in the future are put forward.
