The big head pneumatic pump changed the traditional that general pumps used the motor as their power, they use the compressed gas which was clean and environmental as theit power. The compressed gas pushed the piston moving in the cylinder of the pump, changed the cylinder’s pressure. The water was pumped from low to high under the positive and negative pressure. The big head pneumatic pump has many characteristics, such as clean, environmental, fireprotection, explosionproof, and so on. Because of pump’s characteristics, the pump was appropriate for working in the combustible and explosive mine. According to the actual working condition’s head requirements, the pump could choose a reasonable gas-supply pressure, improving pump’s efficiency, using energy reasonable. This paper seted up the mathematical model for the pump’s working process in the theory of pneumatic and kinematical equation; Making the simulation for mathematical model in relevant tool; Analysing the result of simulation, we could get the pump’s relevant character, in order to guide the pump’s designing and optimizing. This issue has great practical value. This paper researched the following aspects:(1) Designing the structure for the big head pneumatic pump. Including:the design for the reversing arrangement; the design for the one-way value connected with water pipe; the design for the piston, the auxiliary value and the value; and so on. Describing the pump’s operating principle and working process.(2) Seting up the mathematical model for the pump’s working process in the theory of pneumatic and kinematical equation. This paper set up segmented mathematical model for the pump’s piston, auxiliary value and value. There was a clearly mathematical describetion for the pump’s motor process.(3) Making the simulation about the established mathematical model by C language, then, we could getted the simulate data-result. According to the data-result, draw the simulate curves by Origin software. According to different gas supply pressure we could get different simulate result.(4) Analyzing the big head pneumatic pump’s simulation result, plotting phase about displacement and speed for the piston, the auxiliary value and value, then, we could get the pump’s nonlinear dynamic characteristics. Calculating the pump’s flow, head of delivery and efficiency under different gas supply pressure by the simulation result. So we could choosed a reasonable gas supply pressure according to the actual working condition.
