As the continuously development of the Chinese high speed railway, the commercial speed and the operation density are higher than ever before, which propose requirements of the safety of the railway system. The overhead contact system, which is a part of the power supply circuit, is one the factors which determine the operation status of railway. The overhead contact system works in tough environment and has no spare. If it runs in poor condition or shut down, the railway running order will be damaged and brings economic losses. Therefore, assessing the working condition of overhead contact system and give alarm when it is in poor situation is one of the effective way to improve the reliability of railway system. Contact line responds to transfer the current to electrical vehicles. If it works badly, the quality of current collection current will be lower, even making trains loss power. Temperature is an important parameter to reflect the working status of contact line. Thus, analyzing the temperature filed of contact line corresponding to various working conditions are necessary.The temperature of contact line is effected by many factors, such as the heat generation of electrical connection clamp of contact line, heat generation of static current collection between pantograph and contact line, and heat generation of electrical arc. This thesis carries out the finite element analysis based on the computer-aided engineering software, ANSYS. The simulations are focus on analyzing the temperature field change trend of contact line with various load. The3D model of overhead contact system and pantograph are developed by the computer-aided design software named SolidWorks.Based on the3D model, the finite element model is generated in ANSYS. Firstly, I analysis the impact of heat produced by electrical connection clamp of contact line. Various current and specific resistance between contact line and clamp are applied to the finite element model. Secondly, I research the contact line temperature filed when the train collects current from contact line statically. Thirdly, the temperature field of contact line influenced by electrical arc is focuses on. According to the change trend of contact line temperature field get from previous research in this thesis, fuzzy analytical hierarchy process is applied to analyze the overhead contact line system assessment model. The research proposed in this thesis is helpful in improve the maintenance efficiency of overhead contact system, and also important in guiding the safe operation of overhead contact system.
