The typical fault of centrifugal compressors in the daily operation is the mechanical fault caused by vibration of units. The vibration of units will shorten operating time and operating life, even cause unplanned shutdown which cause unnecessary economic losses to damage of components or personal injury which may lead dramatic economic losses. Due to the severe damage of vibration fault in the daily operation, it’s required to dissect the reasons and characters of the centrifugal compressors’vibration, study the mechanism of the units vibration, explore the methods to judge the fault and summarize the experience as to guide the process operation of the compressors, routine repair and maintenance, to avoid or reduce vibration failure.This article analyzes the three kinds of symptom of three models systematically. Based on blade fracture, tilting pad design defects, subsynchronous vibration, a detailed analysis of faults has been conducted. Furthermore, we created the models to evaluate the strength of blades. With the combination of theory and practice, relevant faults were dealt with and got efficacy which may provide some thoughts and ways to solute akin problems.
