| A journal bearing is one of main moving parts and tribological pairs in variousmechanical devices. The axial movement of bearing assembly is not consideredgenerally in current researches on the lubrication performance of journal bearing. In fact, the misalignment and axial movement of journal will be caused by the effect of load etcin the operation of journal bearing. In order to make the research on the journal bearingmore comprehensive and close to the practical situation and predict the lubricationperformance of journal bearing more accurately, in this paper, the research on thelubrication performance of journal bearing considering the axial movement of bearingassembly is carried out.(1) The hydrodynamic lubrication analysis of journal bearing considering themisalignment and axial movement of bearing journalThe film pressure distribution, maximum film pressure, leakage flow-rate, filmreaction force and journal friction coefficient of journal bearing are analyzedconsidering the misalignment and axial movement of journal and the squeeze effectformed by them.(2) The hydrodynamic lubrication analysis of misaligned journal bearingconsidering the surface topography and axial movement of journalThe film pressure distribution, maximum film pressure, leakage flow-rate, filmreaction force and journal friction coefficient of journal bearing are analyzedconsidering the misalignment and axial movement of journal and the surfacetopography of bearing assembly.(3) The thermo-hydrodynamic lubrication analysis of misaligned journal bearingconsidering the surface topography and axial movement of journalThe film pressure distribution, maximum film pressure, leakage flow-rate, filmreaction force and journal friction coefficient of journal bearing are analyzedconsidering the misalignment and axial movement of journal, the surface topography ofbearing assembly and viscosity effect of lubrication oil.The research results show that there is the effect of the axial movement of journalon the lubrication performance, such as the film pressure distribution, the maximumfilm pressure, leakage flow-rate, film reaction force and the journal friction coefficient,of journal bearing. Therefore, it is very necessary to consider the effect of axial movement of bearingassembly in the hydrodynamic lubrication analysis of journal bearing. |
