In this paper, the lubrication analysis model of journal bearing for the high speed and low viscosity lubricant is established based on the fluid lubrication theory, and its lubricating performance is studied. The effects of the pressure boundary condition, the turbulent flow and inertia of the lubricant and the oil supply condition on the lubricating performance of journal bearing are analyzed.First, regardless of the effect of turbulence and inertia of lubricant and the oil supply condition, the Reynolds equation is solved by the improved Elrod mass conservation algorithm (including mass conservation boundary condition), the results are compared with those by the Reynolds boundary conditions, and the distinction of the lubrication performance of bearing under different boundary conditions is analyzed. Then, based on the mass conservation algorithm, a lubrication analysis model of bearing is established using the average velocity field model theory and the lubricating performance parameters of bearing are calculated, and the influence of turbulence and inertia on the performance of bearing is analyzed. Finally, the lubricating performance of bearing under different oil supply pressure and oil groove positions is calculated, in which the mass conservation algorithm, the effects of turbulence and inertia and actual oil supply conditions are included. The lubrication analysis of journal bearing can be closer to the actual situation by using mass conservation algorithm. The effects of the turbulence and inertia are the necessary content in the lubrication analysis of journal bearing for high speed and low viscosity lubricant. The lubrication performance analysis of bearing under different oil supply conditions can provide a reasonable design program of bearing. In this paper, the analyses are performed for the journal bearing of a fuel pump, the structure parameters of bearing (radius, width, radius clearance, etc.) used in the analyses are fixed. If these structural parameters are changed, the calculation methods used in this paper can also be applicable to the lubrication analysis of journal bearing for other mechanical devices.
