As the rapid economic development, China has a large demand for gas, however, nearly360millions of tons of gas had been imported in year2013. As the increasing requirement of liquefied natural gas (LNG), more and more LNG and LPG vessels has been put into use and LNG vessels are playing an important role in gas transportation.LNG tanks are the constructions that are used to store LNG. The safety of LNG tanks is very important for that any divulge may leads to great lost. So the research of LNG tanks has been paid more and more attention, especially the sloshing of the tanks. Sloshing is quiet a complex movement of the liquid and can be very danger because it leads to extra impacting pressure. In additional, the impacting pressure may cause the damage of the supporting system of the tanks. The design of the supporting system must have a very careful consideration of all kinds of loads as the sloshing load, the static load, the thermal induced load, et al.This paper focus on the simulation of the supporting system under the load induced by the sloshing of the LNG. The sloshing impacting pressure of the IMO B tank was carried out by the FEM software FLUENT with the VOF method. The pressure induced by sloshing under different loading rates and different excitation was discussed. The most dangerous situation was determined and the reaction force of the supporting system is obtained. The result showed that sway plus roll is the most dangerous situation. This method is simple and effective, can be used to analyze the response under the sloshing loads.
