Fiber reinforced composite possesses advantages such as high specific strength, high specific modulus, fatigue-resistant, corrosion-resistant etc, which is considered as ideal choice for aero structures. Therefore, application of FRC in airplane has been increasing in recent time. Wing is one of most important part of all structures on airplane. It produces the lift force and assures that flight performance and mobility in control. Appling FRC as material for airplane is one of most effective way to improve airplanes’aerodynamic performance, flight quantity and controllability.In this paper, one type of ultra-light composite wing model with high aspect ratio should be studied. First,3D finite model of the wing model is built, which is used for topology optimization later by employing the’Topology Opt module’of OptiStruct. By doing this, origin information of skeleton distribution is settled. According to the given info, analysis on allocation of applied load among all the bearing components is undertaking based on "Stiffness Distribution Theory"; as is well known that FRC is extremely potential in designability owing to its special built-up structure. In this paper, three optimal processes focus on different aspects of laminate properties has been used based on OptiStruct software. The optimization procedures are free-sizing optimization, ply-bundle optimization and stacking sequence optimization. Through all those three stages of optimal work, a ’best designed’ structure of wing skin has been obtained-lighter in weight and stiffer in structure. In the final stage, a real wing model is manufactured manually by employing hand lay-up molding method. After three points bending test, the data of wing stiffness is obtained. Combining with finite analysis technology, several optimal methods and certain manufacturing process, a typical type of wing model is optimally designed and completed in full circle. The work done in this paper may be helpful for the application of FPC in airplane structures.
