Distributed generation (DG) is a new power supply technology. DG is normally small and medium generation units from thousands to tens of megawatts installed in distribution system near customers. Because of its new, environmentally friendly, efficient, energy-saving features, it’s popular with the clients. It has extremely rapidly developed in recent years. But large-scale Distributed generation connected to the grid may bring certain influence on power network.For an in-depth study of the distributed generation(DG) and its influence on the power system connected, this paper introduces the development and present status of distributed generation presents the concept classification and features of the DG and studies its effects on the power system in terms of the connection with the power grid voltage regulation harmonics and relay protection etc.Study on the relevant provision and technical standard on distributed generation interconnection is done preliminarily in this paper. With the practical condition of Dalian, direct connection, branch line connection and special line connection of DG are introduced in this paper. Also, the related equipment requirements is proposed.Properly resolve the impact of the connection of DG is beneficial to DG’s development and stability of the smart grid operation. Also, this study will play a positive role in promoting clean energy development and energy conservation.
