High-pile wharf is a widely used type of structure. Athwart ship force may be the control load in the design of lateral row frame. While the development of ships involves in the large-scale way and ship impact force increases continually, the determination of distribution coefficient is more important. Study on distribution of horizontal force in the bents of high-pile wharf and build a new simplified model and solve it, which can offer a reference for structure design and standard revision. In this paper, some factors influencing distribution coefficient such as number and distance of bents, width of wharf, arrangement of piles and so on are studied at first. With the increase of number and distance of bents, the error of distribution coefficient calculated by specification is bigger and bigger. The most unfavorable distribution coefficient for narrow-decked wharf given by specification is smaller than actual value, which is likely to cause an accident. When change the arrangement of piles to make them become all vertical, the most unfavorable distribution coefficient by specification is larger. So modifying standard can save materials and cost.According to the current high-pile wharf specification, there are two basic assumptions when determine the distribution in the bents. One is the superstructure of the dock simplified as reinforcing beam and the other is bents simplified as spring supports confining the horizontal displacement. When the horizontal bending stiffness ratio of superstructure and bent is no longer infinite, or the wharf is a narrow-decked wharf in other words, the superstructure of the dock can’t be simplified as reinforcing beam any more, elastic continuous beam instead. Bents can confine the horizontal and angular displacement. Especially for all-vertical-piled wharf, the influence of rotational stiffness of bent on the distribution coefficient should not be neglected. Thus, new simplified models are built and the formulas solving the models are put forward and compiled into spreadsheet in this paper. Parameters such as terminal sizes and material properties are input and distribution coefficients are displayed. This method is simple and safe, suitable for promotion.
