Internet of things (IOT) is regarded as the most important scientific and technological innovation following the internet. Smart Home System is an important application of IOT. It can realize intelligent management and remote control of the home devices, and it also can create a comfortable, safe, and convenient living environment for human beings. Therefore, Smart Home System is studied and designed based on IOT in this thesis.This thesis constructs a wireless remote control system based on GPRS module (SIM900) and ZIGBEE module (Xbee-PBOZB). Considering the characteristics of low cost, low power, and short transmission distance, the seamless connection between the Internet and family network is achieved by the cluster network topology, the end of the control node, intelligent gateway, terminal acquisition node and data display platform. Regarding the hardware, the structure of each node is used to determine the functional framework, CC2430chip is chosen as the core chip ZigBee, the core module is designed to select STM32F103VET6micro controller. Modular design method was applied for software design. Different modules communicate via the communication interface, which is benefit the maintenance and updates of software system.Smart home system designed in this thesis can realize the functions such as controlling, monitoring and alarming, demonstrating the practicality, convenience and broad application of the smart home.
