The braking performance is one of automobile’s main safety performances. Automobile with good braking performance can not only play the dynamic properties of vehicle as large as possible, also avoid many traffic accidents. Major traffic accidents are often caused by the long braking distance、sideslip when braking or the damage of the brake system. So the test on the braking performance is essential, including the test on brake fatigue life times.At first the article takes the drum brake model for example to analysis theoretically the general automobile braking system, it introduces how the braking system appears to work and working process of it, then on the basis of it we can design a test bench that can test the brake fatigue life times. This test bench mainly includes four parts, hydraulic transmission part, part of PLC control system, mechanical transmission part and water cooled part. The purpose of hydraulic transmission part design is mainly to simulate the load to the bridge assembly at different situations, the effect of PLC control part is to achieve automatic control and manual control on test bench. After the design of the hydraulic part it uses AMESim software to simulate and STEP7-Micro/WIN software to simulate the control parts. Finally we use the designed test bench to experiment, then observe the movement process of every part in the process of the operation on test bench, put forward the necessary suggestions in areas that need to be improved.
