Along with emergency of energy more and more, a reliable and energy-saving technique and the development and utilization of new energy sources will be the future direction of the mainstream of the power industry. In the field of energy conversion technology, power electronic devices acts as a key role, therefore, high-performance high power converter is a hot research topic in the field of power electronics and electric drive. In this paper, three-level AC-DC-AC converter is object of study. It thoroughly discussed PWM modulation algorithm, the balance of midpoint’s voltage, the minimum pulse width control, dead-time compensation, the design of main circuit and induction motor control system.On the basis of in-depth study of three-level space vector pulse width modulation technology, paper detailed design the traditional and based on the reference voltage vector decomposition three-level SVPWM algorithm. Through discrete control variable, using MATLAB/SIMULINK software imitate the working principle of TMS320F28335. This will has some guiding significance in practical application. This paper presents a comprehensive control strategy which includes midpoint voltage balance and minimum pulse width and dead-time compensation.Through the study of the three-level AC-DC-AC converter main circuit and control structure, this paper designs50kW three-level AC-DC-AC converter. It will discuss how to calculate and select IGBT, power diodes, reactor, DC capacitors and other devices. At same time, the general thought of IGBT drive circuit design will be summed up. At last, it has a brief describe of relevant circuit design.It also analyses induction motor control system. Meanwhile, it offers motor flux observer model design methods. It explains the reason of instability of voltage model and puts forward corresponding control strategy. It achieves a smooth handover process of flux observer model when induction is running high and low. Combined with simulation it seems the model is available.Finally, it summarizes the main contents and conclusions, points out the focus and direction of future research work.
