Sea freight is an important way of modern freight, and it becomes one of booming industries recent years due to its unique characteristics such as large capacity, low cost and good adaptability for cargo. Navigation radars are indispensable equipment for safe navigation, collision avoidance, orientation, narrow channel pilot and night driving. Research and design of radar system started earlier abroad and marine navigation radar technology is advanced. Some shortcomings still exist in domestic civil marine radar technology such as low resolution, weal detection, low efficiency, etc.In allusion to the above problems, research and design of X-band marine navigation radar transmitter and receiver was mainly discussed in this article. High power transmission and high sensitivity receiving in large dynamic range of RF signal was realized. Technique data and overall scheme of radar system was put forward after scientific demonstration. The design and implementation of navigation radar transceiver was introduced in each section, involving several key techniques: First of all, the high voltage pulse generation techniques and methods to feed the magnetron were studied, and high voltage pulse modulation board was designed. Secondly, radar high sensitivity and wide dynamic range receiver technology was explored and analyzed. Large dynamic range of IF digital receiving module and low noise amplifier co-simulation was elaborated in detail. And then, the transceiver testing techniques are discussed and proposed. In addition, test results of navigation radar devices was illustrated and analyzed in this paper.Transceiver EMC problems were analyzed in this paper and PCB layout was design rationally. The results infield and outfield of navigation radar prototype was given. The author scientifically analyzed the problems and difficulties encountered in the procedure of fabrication. The largest land-based detection distance was about27KM. The experience in the assembling of marine navigation radar and shortcomings currently existed in the project was summed up in the end of this article. Finally, prospect and tendency of marine navigation radar was forecasted.
