A Study On The Landscape Design Language Of Hainan Tropical Coastal Park

With the construction of Hainan international tourism island growing vigorously, the development of coastal areas is also booming in Hainan. As an important part of the coastal areas, parks have multi-functions in the city’s natural and social systems, recreation, ecological protection, recreation, education, etc. In addition, the parks in Hainan tropical coastal area are very popular because of their advantages of special geography, climate, and regional culture. However, Hainan tropical coastal park started relatively late. As for now, it has a small number and a rapid speed of development. The design methods of the park have not matured enough. It is urgent to find a theoretical design system to fit the context of its rapid development, which can be read and spread, meet the geographical and cultural characteristics.Referencing the linguistic research methods, using the research tools of theoretical study, investigation and literature review, and combined with site characterization, the dissertation mainly deals with the construction of landscape design language of the parks in Hainan tropical coastal area. It divides into three parts:starting with analyzing the development, distribution and landscape influencing factors of Hainan tropical coastal park, grasping the site characterization and landscape features, then constructing a research model for landscape design language referencing linguistic mature research system, finally analyzing several typical cases with the research model in detail, refining and summarizing the features of landscape vocabulary and the grammar rules in words, statements and chapter of the parks in Hainan tropical coastal area.Conclusion was drawn from an examination for the landscape of Hainan tropical coastal area park and from the study for its design language. It is as followed:(1) Making a summary of the tropical, coastal and regional cultural landscape features of the parks in Hainan tropical coastal area.(2) Constructing a frame system and an analysis model of landscape design language. Namely, vocabulary is landscape element, the statement can be understood as the landscape space, article is the overall layout of the landscape, and syntax is method of landscape design.(3) Summarizing the features of landscape vocabulary and the grammar rules of Hainan tropical coastal park.①Its unique landscape vocabularies contain water features, plant landscape, construction, facilities and pavement. The water features are ecological and natural, meet the tropical climate and the marine environment, and have a rich morphology. The plant landscape almighty embodies tropical and the landscaping practices are extremely typical. The construction, facilities and pavement are emphasis on natural materials and natural colors, can reflect the regional natural and cultural characteristics of Hainan.②The design of Hainan tropical coastal area park landscape vocabularies focused on the reference of regional cultural elements of Hainan, local natural landscapes, historical and cultural site features. Different landscape vocabularies can be integrated with each other. Landscape vocabularies using in different functional areas should be valued on their details, which contain shape, color and texture.③The creating of the park landscape should respect the original site, and pay attention to reflecting on park features. The spatial layout is the combination of sparse and dense. The tour route belongs to the collar style. The Ornamental sight structure mainly contains opposite scenery, borrowed scenery and block view. The ratio, colors, textures of the elements in landscape space should be harmonized. The organization of all the spaces required to follow an order, balanced and coordinated. The practices of water-making, stone-setting and tour structure can learn from the syntax of traditional Chinese garden.④The important landscapes can be emphasized by framing view or setting in the center, the end and the commanding heights of the space. The facilities, ornaments and ancient trees can be able to express the cultural connotation by landscape conception.
