Ships are the main transportation in international trade. With the rising number and tonnage of the ship, the total discharge of oily water is increasing.It can cause oil pollution and great harmful to marine environment.Microfluidic chip technology becomes an important role of the current analytical science frontiers, and its research and application has already been achieved rapid development. Therefore the development of superiority based microfluidic chip technology, manipulation and detection of research carried out in droplets of oily wastewater. It will not only afford a foundation of the development of new type oily wastewater treatment technology, but also has a great significance and application prospects for the treatment and rapid on-site detection of oily wastewater.This paper is described the influence of the surfactant on the oil droplet’s electrokinetic motion, and the later part has been written the rapid detection, count and size judgment of the oil droplets by using a microfluidic chip.The main contents of this research are as follows.1) The oil content detection methods of ship oily wastewater, the electrokinetic technology and the development of the RPS (Resistance Pulse Sensor) detection technology are analyzed in this paper. The basic theory of the electric double layer, DC electro-osmosis and DC electrophoresis are elaborated in this paper.2) The experimental study of the influence of various polarity of surfactants on the oil droplets transport motion by using microfluidics will be seen in this paper. The research results showed that by adding the anionic and cationic surfactants in the solution (SDS/CTAB), the surface charge and polarity of the oil droplets could be changed, the speed and direction of the oil droplets could be manipulated under the electric field, the effect of oil emulsion droplet gathering and separation could be improved.3) The principle of RPS and the advantages of the two-stage differential amplication detection system were introduced. An experimental system in a microfluidics chip was built to continuous detect the oil droplets, to count, and to determine the size. It could be used to research the oil droplets count and size judgment on the microfluidic chip, and achieved the detection of oil concentration11mg/L. In this paper, based on the microfluidic chip technology, the oil droplets of the oily wastewater were manipulated and detection in the microchannel. It had a certain reference value for the development of new technology of oily wastewater treatment, and provided a new method to detect the concentration of ship oily wastewater and marine oil pollution.
