Research On Evaluating Approach For Trait Anxiety Level Of Driver

The driver’s trait anxiety as a kind of complex personality is easy to cause adverse emotional state, and always affects the traffic safety. In order to be able to thoroughly understand the driver’s trait anxiety, as to take effective measures to control anxiety emotion, in this paper, several studies were made as follows:(1)An evaluation method to driver’s trait anxiety level was presented by both subjective and objective aspect. For the subjective aspect, a self-rating scale for driver’s trait anxiety was developed, and was proved that it has better reliability and validity; to the objective aspect, a Fuzzy AHP evaluation method was employed to treat with the quantitatively fuzzy concepts and relations. The experiments showed that the evaluation method by subjective and objective for driver’s trait anxiety level had the consistency and complemented and confirmed by each other.(2) We used the self-made Driver Trait Anxiety Scale directed at160drivers’ Trait Anxiety. The survey data conducted with the statistical analysis software SPSS17.0, including the module such as Single factor analysis of variance, Sort according to the individual factors and Chart output. And discussed the influence of individual factor or the interaction of two factors on driver trait anxiety level. The results show that:Gender, driving experience and temperament type have significant influence on trait anxiety level; the influence from Age is not obvious; and the drivers have high trait anxiety level drive more carefully and the accident rate is lower.(3) We discussed the influence of trait anxiety level on pilot evaluation and the behavior in specific environment based on the driving simulator. According to the questionnaire survey results, the160drivers’ anxiety level is divided into high, medium and low three groups, and elected one diver from each group that has similar age, same gender, but different trait anxiety level, and completed the same simulation driving task. The driving environment included ten different scenes. In the driving process, they needed to make evaluation about the risk level of each sense, at the same time, tracked all the trend of the target vehicle and vehicles around it in the simulated environment, and recorded the drivers’ action and expression use a camera. Research shows that:In general environment, the higher the level of trait anxiety is, the higher the degree of risk evaluation is made; While in high risk environment, divers with higher trait anxiety level drive more carefully, and make less error relatively.This article combined both subjective and objective aspects to understand the driver’s trait anxiety level accurately and comprehensively, discussed the influence of drivers’ self factors on trait anxiety level, and simulated driving environment with the driving simulator, discussed trait anxiety level how to affect the risk evaluation in special environment.
