Abstract/Summary:
Recently, with the depletion of Chinese coastline where good ports can be built and thedevelopment of large-scale ships, the construction of deep-water ports thus haveto advance to the open deep water. However, these offshore deep-water ports face morehostile natural conditions than coastal ports, especially the long-period waves coming fromopen sea. It has strong penetrating power and considerable energy that can easilycause large amplitude motion of mooring ship, and thus leading to accidents. However, the research of mooring system in China is focusing more on its responseunder general wave. The study of mooring system under the impact of the long-periodwave is relatively less. Moreover, the standard of mooring stability under long-period wavewith average period over8s has not been defined in any relative regulation in China. Thus, the full secure operation conditions of mooring ship have not been well written in theseregulations. In consideration of the deficiency of studies in current literature mentioned above, thispaper is going to build a mooring mathematical model of300,000DWT bulk cargo ship, analyzing the ship movement and mooring line force of the mooring system under differentwave period, height and directions, as well as studying its regularity of change among thisprocess, by the use of mooring analysis software MOSES.The key content of this paper is listed as below:1.Review of domestic and foreign research status.2.Introduction of MOSES software and its related theories.3.Building numerical structural modeling and verifying its veracity.4.Calculating the amount of ship movement and rope tension force of the mooringsystem under wave period of6s to36s, wave height of0.3m,0.5m&0.8m, wave directionof45°,90°&135°as well as studying its regularity of change among this process. The analysis results show that in comparison with general wave, long-period wavewill have greater impact on movement of mooring ship and cause larger mooring force, especially under the act of transverse wave. Therefore, it is imperative to consider theimpact of long-period wave on mooring system when constructing deep-water ports in theopen sea and the effect of transverse wave on mooring ship should be avoided.
