In recent years, the position of ports in the national economy has been improved stepby step. The application function of ports is expanding and fairway engineering is thefoundation of port development. The emphasis and difficulty of port management ismaintaining the normal navigable water depth of the channel and solving the problem ofsediment deposition. Of course, the ideal area for building a port is a good harbor in anatural deep-water costal area. However, due to the limitation of the geographical positionof coastal areas, by the urgent needs of the regional economic development, part of thecoastal areas in China are in the condition that is not suitable for building port because theyhave very unfavorable sand, silt and silt coast region. Building ports in these areas requiresa very high level of technology and investment. The continuous development of China’seconomic strength and technological progress, building ports has become very common inthese areas. At present, the sandy and muddy coasts have been studied in-depth, with theemergence of sudden sedimentation phenomenon, the study of silt coast also has beenattached importance gradually. Compared with the former two coasts, the research of thesilt coast is underdeveloped. The nature of the Port of Huanghua’s coast belongs to thetypical silt coast.Due to the factors that influence the channel siltation have strong nonlinearity,randomness, time-varying and a high degree of uncertainty, etc, these have brought greatdifficulties to the fairway dredging and the siltation prediction. Due to its own chiltern,combined with environmental factors, the role of human factors, the channel siltationproblem of the fairway engineering which is built on the silt coast has attracted widespreadattention. Severe siltation, not only increase the huge investment to maintain the normaldepth of the channel, but also seriously influence the safety of the docking and navigationof the past fairway shipping. This paper mainly studied the port of Huanghua’s fairwayfrom the following several aspects:(1) Analyzes the forming process of the port of Huanghua’s coast, the nature of thecoast and the natural environment of the port.(2) Summarizes other factors of fairway siltation of the comprehensive Port ofHuanghua, analyzes the various factors which cause the fairway sedimentation of thecomprehensive port of Huanghua. (3) Using the global optimum and good generalization ability of SVM model, itsmodel parameters are optimized by particle swarm optimization algorithm, establishcomprehensive port fairway PSO-SVM siltation prediction model for the port of Huanghua,trained and predicted the existing data sample of the sedimentation amount. The model notonly considers the effect of wind, but also considered the influence of terrain, thus for theresearch of fairway siltation prediction model provides a new idea and new method.(4) PSO-SVM siltation prediction model has good fitting property, after given thewind strength, can predict different range of fairway sedimentation in advance though thePSO-SVM model.(5) Combination of fairway sediment deposition distribution and the depth chart of thewhole fairway, optimize the dredging arrangement for the comprehensive port fairwaydredging vessels of the port of Huanghua, and optimize the existing comprehensive portdredging vessels dredging volume of the port of Huanghua in advance, provide guidancefor the port of Huanghua for the existing way of desilting.(6) To overview the research contents of this paper to expound the defect of the study,and prospect the research emphasis in the future.
