With the development of information technology, the embedded system hasevolved a perfect network function. Meanwhile, because of the emerging Internet ofthings has broken the traditional Internet system and realized the connections ofobjects, it has also got great attention and achieved rapid development. Combinationof these technologies will be the future trend of information industry. Smart home isjust one perfect case of the combinations of these technologies among them.This paper presents a smart home gateway scheme based on embedded Linuxsystem for the ordinary living environment. By combing the embedded system,Internet network technology, with the ZigBee technology, the simple intelligenthousehold is realized, and the gateway, a control core of the smart home system isdiscussed. In the thesis, research is mainly focused on the design and implementationof the smart home gateway based on the ARM processor. The smart home gateway inthe realized network provides the HTTP service for the customer. The gateway isdesigned into a Web server system. Users can land on the net PC smart home gatewayanywhere. Thus the convenience of user access is greatly improved. After login in, theuser can send instructions via smart home gateway to control and operate householdintelligent devices. At the same time, the graphical interface is designed on thegateway for the local users. The local users can also send instructions by clicking thebuttons on touch screen. After received the user instructions, gateway processed itfirst, and then sent equipment operation instruction to the intelligent home LANZigBee coordinator to realize the control of equipment. Through the report data of theZigBee network, the monitoring of the key parameters of household equipment isrealized.This article first simply introduced the smart home, and then the history and itsresearch development of smart home are expounded. Through analysis of the systemrequirements and function, the overall design scheme of the gateway is confirmed,and the hardware circuit based on ARM processor was realized. The thesis focuses onthe software development of gateway based on ARM platform. It mainly includes fiveaspects:(1) port Linux operating system to S5PV210processors and making root filesystem to build a software platform.(2) writing application program to buile smart home gateway based on the embedded ARM platform.(3) building the Web serverand providing the HTTP service.(4) monitoring household device node through localgraphical interface.(5) design of communication protocol of the gateway and ZigBeecoordinator, realization of the communication with intelligent household device node.Finally, test results show that the embedded linux gateway has perfectly achived theexpected goals.
