With urban traffic congestion growing currently, urban transportation problems have become prominent issues affecting urban development. To change the city traffic congestion, the development of fast and convenient public transportation is imminent. The subway with its high speed, punctuality, little pollution, low energy consumption, safety, comfort and a series of advantages attracts attention of the general public and city development decision-makers gradually. Safety is the eternal theme of traffic. Due to the subway and its relatively closed environment, traffic and other factors, once the accident will be.it is unbearable to the consequences. Therefore, to ensure safe, reliable focus has been the public attention of vehicle.Lightweight design is one of the important goal in the design of modern Metro bus, give full play to the strength of the structural material, rigidity, so that the structure is reasonable, saving raw material, reducing cost. On the metro vehicle, lightweight body can reduce energy consumption, reduce cost, reduce the braking force, reduce the static, dynamic load and prolong the repair cycle and the service life of rail lines greatly. At the same time, the operation energy consumption reduction, to prevent the rise of temperature in the tunnel, also reduced due to frequent braking, and excessive energy consumption of defects. Visible, metro vehicle weight has a long and remarkable economic benefit. Aluminum alloy density of approximately1/3of iron, but also has high strength, rigidity and corrosion resistance. Metro vehicle aluminum alloy car body can greatly reduce the weight of the vehicle, but also can meet the requirements of strength and rigidity, aluminum alloy has become the preferred material for subway vehicles. Japan’s first use of aluminum alloy in railway vehicle is on the Shanyang electric railway in1962(2000), after being put into use, good economic benefits brought by lightweight soon be acknowledged by society, therefore, aluminum alloy vehicle has been developed rapidly in Japan, and it has been widely used in the subway nearly20private railway operating units, a total of more than40car models. Therefore, the aluminum alloy in the whole world is widely used in metro vehicle.Firstly, the paper gives brief introduction of development process of aluminum alloy car body and present status. And for a certain type of metro aluminum ailoy car body, after having full understanding of the stress characteristics and its main parameters, establish the finite element model with HyperMesh software, and apply load, calculate in the ANSYS. Through the finite element simulation, calculate the static strength in the corresponding conditions, fatigue strength and modal and nonlinear buckling. Computer simulation results show that:the aluminum alloy Metro carbody stress distribution is reasonable, the strength and stiffness to meet the standard requirement.
