With the increase of China’s high-speed rail size and volume, the total energy consumption of railway transportation is increasing in China. In order to build a better resource-conserving and environmentally friendly society, reduce the energy consumption in the process of the train operation, it is imminent to study the problem of saving energy and reducing consumption of the train. Therefore, this article tried to settle the problem by improving the control method to realize train energy-saving operation of the high-speed train under the condition of the certain hardware environment, such as the locomotive and the vehicle, the certain train schedules and the train marshalling plan. It also should meet the requirement of operation safety on time.This article analyzed the problem from mechanics and the equation of high-speed train, the train traction calculation mathematical model was set up. According to the solving of Hamiltonian derivation, the optimal control principle was obtained, it was four kinds of operation modes that were maximum traction, uniform, idle running, and maximum breaking. About the speed of train characteristic function of quadratic fitting, the running time、the running distance and the total energy consumption were calculated by using step-by-step integration. Thus the works points of saving-energy operation could be obtained in theory.In combination with the line data of actual the Beijing-Tianjin inter-city high-speed railway, in accordance with the principle of energy saving operation optimal control, the theory of energy saving algorithm was optimize. A high-speed train running simulation platform was built on JAVA development environment. In the platform CRH3electric multiple units (EMUS) was taken as the simulation object. The influences of the line added resistance and the limit speed on train operation were considered. And a more close to the actual operation mode was put forward. The simulation calculation result was compared with the measured value of energy consumption. The correctness and the applicability of the algorithm were verified.Finally, based on the optimization algorithm, high-speed train energy-saving control system was designed and developed, which was test on the train network control system hardware-in-the-loop simulation platform. The result shows that in the premise of ensure the safety of train running smoothly on time, the system can guide the driver to control the way with less energy consumption, to achieve the goal of energy saving.
