Large continuous conveyor belt are widely used in ports, mines, coal mines and other places, belt transport toward the direction of high speed, long distance, large scale, large inclined angle. Conveyor belt is used more and more, with wide range of applications, and have more and more accidents. The belt value of hundreds of thousands to millions of Yuan, if broken, it will cause huge economic loss. With belt as research object, take online detection and fault analysis of the damage, it will be of great significance.The paper presents detection system the digital image processing of the steel wire rope, proposed the steel wire rope image processing algorithms, it uses X ray real time imaging technology, with digital image processing technology, have the acquisition and storage, pretreatment, feature, and defects detection and identification of the steel wire rope core belt. It will make a quantitative and qualitative analysis. Not only can visually see steel core belt within the image, and it can detect the amount of wire rope fracture and its location. It can give the alarm, lower belt probability of the accident, save economy and improve efficiency.With the X-ray source, linear array detectors, PC and rack hardware equipment to establish the X-ray real time imaging system and acquire the core rope image. Application of image processing technology for wire rope core image, filtering, and recover after pretreatment, then have extraction and recognition of the feature. With image processing software written in VC++6.0, the system achieves conveyor belt wire rope on-line monitoring and fault diagnosis.
