Research On CVT Torque Converter Original Characteristic Test

The original characteristic curve of the torque converter is an important chartconverter when matching transmission or vehicle. According to the same project, thedifference between the test results of different torque converter with a batch production islarge，even with a difference in the results of several tests of the torque converterunder the same experimental conditions as well. Currently there is no set about CVT torqueconverter original characteristic test specification. This paper analyzes the torque converter worksand original characteristic curve, establishes torque converter the original range of thecharacteristic curve based on matching theory and application software AVL CRUISE. So the testmethods about original characteristics of the torque converter is put forward, tested and analyzed.The main contents are:(1) by matching engine to match the characteristics of a vehicle established the originalmodel of the torque converter range of the curve, to explore the characteristics of the originalconverter (torque ratio, energy capacity, efficiency) variation of the vehicle thus establishing thetorque converter influence working conditions (input speed and output speed, the input torque,output torque, oil imports, exports oil pressure, oil temperature) and evaluation (torque ratio,efficiency, capacity coefficient).(2) Designs CVT torque converter original characteristic trial through analyzing the torqueconverter test standards, CVT transmission test standards and Vehicle test standards, and forms thetest methods for the original characteristics. Clearly puts forward the original characteristics of thetest content, test conditions, evaluation, and establishes CVT torque converter originalcharacteristic test specifications.(3) Based on the adaptive research done on existing torque converter performance testaccording to the test specification, developed improvement program, then restored precisionequipment and calibrated the speed/torque meter accuracy, and verified the adaptability for theoriginal performance test. These provide a reliable hardware conditions.(4) According to the test specification, a certain type torque converter is tested on the testequipment improved and the test data is analyzed; while data processing capabilities is improvedby applying the theory of parasitic losses, access to more accurate torque converter originalcharacteristic.The results show that the original characteristics of the torque converter CVT test method isfeasible, consistency and repeatability of the original characteristics curve obtained by this testmethod is better than before.
