Snow often give a person with the beautiful natural landscape, many of snow verses has existed since ancient times,Although the snow is beautiful,we can’t ignore the harm it produce for the artificial facilities, one of the most serious threat to the transmission lines is ice disasters, the ice and snow attached to the transmission line will increase the weight of transmission lines,and increase the wire sag,under the action of wind, may cause three or single phase short circuit,even cause short circuit trip or burn out conductor when it serious, As snow and ice attached to the insulator may cause flashover and blackouts, line dancing can cause tower、hardware、wire and other power equipment damage, cause a lot of inconvenience to the people’s life.Aimed at the problem of transmission line anti-ice melting, domestic and foreign experts have made a lot of research, For now, the research is mainly around the dc melting ice technology,After the severe ice disaster in2008, more than a year of efforts in our country, the early warning system of ice disaster,research of new material and other fields has made breakthrough progress, through comparison and analysis, power engineering researchers agree that dc short circuit technology is one of the most effective way of transmission line ice melting, so the dc melting device research has always been the hot spot, in the aspect of AC anti-ice melting, domestic has not conducted in-depth research, combining with the transmission line ice characteristics of our country environments, this paper proposes a new anti-ice melting method, using the cascade STATCOM characteristic that it can freely output an inductive and capacitive reactive current, through the heat that produced by the reactive current to prevent transmission lines freeze.In this paper, the research content mainly includes:first, analyzes the mechanism and types of the ice,Summarizes the domestic and foreign main anti-ice melting method for transmission lines, constructed the energy balance equation, and for the various factors in the balance equation,this paper has carried on the quantitative analysis,using the MATLAB software to draw the relationship between various factors, through the relation curve to analysis the influence that liquid water content, wind speed, temperature, wire diameter and other factors to the ice melting process, and put forward a sufficient and necessary conditions for the calculation of the.minimum melting current, deduced the calculation formula of the minimum melting current, designed the ice melting system schematic diagram, and the control method, modulation strategy, dc side capacitor voltage control methods are studied, Finally, this article use the MATLAB software to simulation analysis for the simulation system, the simulation results show that the ice melting device which can make the flexible regulation of reactive current, can meet the needs of ice melting, verify the correctness of the design scheme and control method.
