Shield method is more and more widely used in the construction of the subway tunnel, but some accidents occured frequently with composite formations of uneven, during the shield construction. such as in Guangdong and Shenzhen where the shield method is widely used, ground subsidence, cutter serious damage and other problems occured repeatedly. This article fully considered the characteristic of compound formation, and then discussed the following aspects of TBM cutter head design:First, the factors affecting the thrust and torque of shield machine cutter under the composite stratigraphic is analyzed. The calculation model of shield machine cutter head torque and thrust under the composite stratigraphic is proposed with the help of the existing research domestic and international. The calculation model has the characteristics of high strength, and high stiffness, while the aperture ratio and the foam injection has been considered of.Second, static analysis of cutter is done by using the CAE software ANSYS, aiming at solving the problems of the large deformation of cutter and the knife spacing during the tunnel project of Guanhui.Third, cutter layout and stiffness has been improved based on the results of static analysis and the research on big knife spacing. The distance between the hob becomes smaller and the stiffness becomes more higher then before, so it can sustain high-strength rock cutting, and avoid a greater degree of deformation occurs in construction.This paper has reference value for engineering and technical personnel in the shield cutter head design.
