Research On BIM Application Analysis And Adaptive Strategies Of Architectural Design

Technological innovation and energy-saving have long acted as the goals of modern construction industry. Building Information Modeling, known as BIM, is the pre-built digitization, with comprehensive analysis of key features, bringing rapid progress with its expanding applications. Neverthless, it’s not been a universal design tool for most projects proved to be partly fittable.This paper aims to explore the ’process’ and ’openness’ of BIM application by cases study. More research is focused on:how to combine BIM with localized design process, and how to achieve BIM-oriented design-build assisted goals with thinking patterns, working flows, digital fabrication and management, etc. Design verification is also illustrated by practice, concerning with its design process and corresponding BIM methods. More details are as follows:Bring forward the issue Introduction part describes the background, research status by literature review of related fields, proposing the research methods, contents and framework.Demonstration Chapter2describes BIM applications in enterprises and colleges, comparing domestic and foreign overview. By icons of parsing information resources, BIM’s carrier and composition to the level of classification, can be summarized.Chapter3accomplishes thoroughly empirical research and a series of cases study with BIM design analysis, summarizing today’s typical BIM application modes of architectural design, as well as the design phase localization of such characteristics and factors.Theoretical analysis Chapter4elaborates on BIM-oriented adaptive design system with Paremetrics, Performance and Prefabrication, connecting design elements such as site, form, space, structure and details, to propose adaptive BIM associated patterns and strategies.Application Based on previous study, Chapter5focuses on a specific design practice using BIM, describing its design process, design elements and features, so as to analyze its BIM application by efficient verification, presenting its advantages and disadvantages.Conclusion The last Chapter points out the key issues of promotion difficulty in universal BIM application, including aspects of Design Requirements, Process and Technical recognition, further to propose thinking and prospects of BIM design application.
