This paper describes the development status and trend of the exsisting shunting diesel locomotive, expounds the importance and urgency of research and development on high power shunting diesel locomotive in China, and proposes the main problem to be solved in this paper, on the basis of reading a large number of documents and information on diesel locomotive from both domestic and abroad.Firstly, it briefly describes the operation environment and technical parameters of4400HP AC shunting locomotive, clarifies the foundation and difficulty of carbody design by the explanation of locomotive general layout and equipment parameters. Locomotive carbody structure, especially the novel design, such as independent suspended cab.underframe with integrated fuel tank and double layer roof with good ventilation,etc. are explained in detail.Secondly, in order to ensure the4400HP AC transmission shunting locomotive carbody structure has good performance in operation, computational mechanics model of car body structure is detailedly established by finite element software ANSYS. According to EN12663-1:2010,TB/T2541-2010and the exsisting operation environment of Chinese railway,8load cases are set for carbody static strength calculation. Locomotive carbody strength and stiffness are analyzed according to standards and model analysis of fully supplied carbody is completed in order to verify the vibration resonance of fully supplied carbody with other main-vibration sources. The analysis result shows the static strength and vibration model of4400HP shunting locomotive can meet the design requirement.For high-power diesel locomotive, the force under tensile load case, compression load case, single end lifting, integral lifting, twisting and traction load case is particularly important. In this paper, through the analysis of static strength of car body steel structure under the main load cases, the defects of the original design are found out, the corresponding parts are strengthened effectively,to make the overall structure and the performance of4400HP locomotive greatly improved, which accumulates valuable experience for the future development of high power locomotive andimproves the overall technical strength of locomotives in China.
