In recent years, with the energy and environmental problems have become increasing prominent, the whole world has formed a consensus on energy saving and emission reduction. Under this trend, people attach more and more importance to the electric bus as it is one of the cleanest transportation. But electric bus still exist the problem of insufficient mileage because the battery technology and rapid charging technology constraints. As there is a direct relationship between the driving resistance and vehicle weight, thus reducing body weight can improve the energy utilization rate of electric bus, which has important significance to solve the problem of insufficient mileage.In this paper, based on a full-integral bus body, the finite element model in shell elements is established. And this model was calculated under several different conditions. Then analyzed the stress and strain of the frame, undergone the outdoor testing. Based on the results of the calculation, size optimization and topology optimization was used to optimize the design of the body frame. The optimization included the lightweight design of the chassis parts of the bus and the strengthening design of the top cover parts of the bus. And compared and analyzed the model before and after the optimization design after the optimization.The new bus body chassis’s mass is reduced by104.211Kg through the optimizing design, so this lightweight made better effect. And the maximum stress in the bending condition and bending and torsion condition compared to the original body skeleton has been considerably reduced. The overall stiffness and natural frequency of the roof are improved through the topology optimization, which illustrated the reliability and realistic significance of the optimization design.The research results of this Paper have not only provided reference and guidance for product design, reconstruct, optimization and solving practical problems in enterprise.
