Compared with the traditional vehicle, electric car uses the source battery as the power which causes less pollution to the environment. So it should be the main direction for the development of new energy vehicles in the future. As a mini electric car’s load matrix, frame supports the load and excitation from frame accessories, passengers and the pavement directly or indirectly. Therefore, the frame should not only have sufficient strength, stiffness and stability, but also keep good dynamic characteristics in order to prevent the resonance phenomenon. On the basis of static and dynamic conditions, further reducing weight, to improve the vehicle handling stability and range, has great significance for the design of body structure.In tourism electric car body structure designing, the frame of blank model, using Creo2.0 to set up, is imported into ANSYS Workbench to have a topology optimization. When getting the reserved area of material, refer to the optimize results to established the preliminary three-dimensional frame. The electric vehicle’s parameters are calculated which can help determine the maximum speed, mileage, gradeability and turning radius of the electric vehicles. It provides data for the calibration of the strength and dynamic characteristics of the body. For the initial established finite element model, people should have a finite element analysis on electric vehicle in full load conditions such as bending, emergency and braking, then analyze and compare the calculation results to improve the place that has insufficient strength and large stress concentration of the frame. Based on the improvement, further lightweight frame by combining material substitution with material removed to get frame weight reduce, which can improve the range of vehicles and save energy. The constraint modal analysis is carried out under such condition through extracting the eight order vibration mode and frequency of the frame for analysis, in order to avoid the happening of resonance phenomena.Body structure of electric vehicle model is designed by combining with topology optimization to model. Its analysis and optimization results have reference value for similar models designing and practical guiding significance in engineering. Lightweight scheme got from using topology optimization method can make the body structures, under the premise of meeting the performance requirements, reduce the electric car body quality effectively and increase the range. It also accumulated certain experience andtechnical data for the lightweight design and analysis.
