The fluid will demonstrate the viscidity while flowing. This is a result offrictional force in every particle is produced while flowing within the fluid. Andthe viscosity signifies the degree of the viscidity.It is one of the importantpropertiy parameters of the fluid.In the metallurgical course, the viscosity of the melting body creates theessential dynamics condition for reacting in metallurgy. So studying the alloymelting body’s viscosity can not merely offer the essential parameter for themetallurgical production, but also help to reveal the inherent law of the microstructure of melting body of alloy; In the course of casting, the viscosity of thealloy melting body not merely influences filling type ability, but also haveinfluence on heat transfer within the alloy melting body. But the presentviscosimeters are mostly directed against the normal atmospheric temperatureliquid. They can not respond to the requirement that the viscosity of meltingbody of alloy has been measured. So this text aims at developing a device thatcan measure the viscosity of melting body of alloy accurately and quickly.This text first introduces the existing viscosity measurement methods andequipments and analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of different methods.Then it proposes the new method of measurement based on rotatory law which isthe most suitable for the measurement method of the viscosity of alloy meltingbody. The new method measures the viscosity of the alloy melting body quicklyby establishing the relational expression between the steady rotational speed ofthe direct current motor and viscosity.The totality of the new instrument is divided into two parts of a hardwaresystem and software system. The hardware system is mainly composed ofvoltage-stabilized source, direct current motor, rotor, transducer, data acquisitionboard, computer and so on and it will finish the work that the signal will happen and be gathered and dealt with; The software system procedure are written byMicrosoft Visual Basic6.0, including interface design with procedure codewriting. The software can realize establishing the alloy parameter, measure thealloy viscosity, reveal data of measuring in real time, draw voltage curve, keepfile automatically and look over historical file function.First the instrument uses seven kinds of standard liquid at room temperatureto do the experiments for confirming the relational expression between the steadyrotational speed of the direct current motor and viscosity; Then measure theviscosity of water in different temperature in order to confirm the devicesensitiveness to the small viscosity change; Finally use the ZL114A alloy meltingbody to do the accuracy experiment. Proved by the experiments, sensitiveness,repetitiveness and accuracy that this device measures can all be met therequirement for measuring the viscosity of alloy melting body.
